Ukrainian Research Infrastructures Leaders Graduate with EURIZON’s Fellowships to Milano-Bicocca University's Executive Master in Management of Research Infrastructures, Pledging Integration into European Research Area

In a jubilant graduation ceremony held in Milan, on May 10, at the University of Milano-Bicocca, a cohort of nine scientists and managers from research infrastructures (RIs) in Ukraine celebrated a significant milestone in their careers – the completion of their part-time Executive Master in Management of Research Infrastructures (EMMRI), thanks to the support of EURIZON Fellowships.
EURIZON Coordinator Martin Sandhop (DESY), Faculty members, distinguished visiting executives from international research infrastructures, Alumni, and families gathered to honor the graduates, recognizing their commitment to personal and professional development amidst the backdrop of challenging wartime conditions.
The graduation ceremony came after two days in which Kseniia Bondar, Iryna Hryhoruk, Olga Iermakova, Sviatoslav Motrunich, Iuliia Mukha, Sergii Paskevych, Olena Rubanenko, Oksana Shevchuk, Viktoriia Vostriakova discussed the results of their field projects in front of the faculty, classmates, and guests. Whether strengthening the strategy and management of own research institution or defining a plan for the creation of a national node for future integration into European RIs, these projects are poised to become milestones in the capacity building of Ukraine’s research infrastructure ecosystem.
During the ceremony, speakers commended the graduates for their exceptional accomplishments and emphasized the significance of their newfound knowledge and skills in navigating the complexities of research infrastructures.
Reflecting on their transformative educational experience, graduates spoke of their aspirations not only rebuild Ukraine’s research infrastructures but also to forge new partnerships and pathways for integration into the European Research Area.
As they prepare to navigate the uncertain terrain ahead, these leaders stand as beacons of hope and resilience for their nation and the global RI community. They will continue to inspire hope, drive progress, and forge lasting connections that transcend borders and unite nations in the pursuit of knowledge and innovation.
