The Call opened for applications on April 1st, 2023 as part of the support measures for Ukrainian researchers designed within the EURIZON project. These temporary grants, funded by the European Union (through EURIZON H2020 project, grant agreement 871072) are intended to enable Ukrainian research teams to continue their scientific work, remotely from Urkaine, by carrying on research projects in collaboration with partners from European research institutes and infrastructures (RIs).

After the deadline, the EURIZON Secretariat received more than 750 applications! This is much more than the EURIZON team could ever expect. And it shows how much projects like this, supporting researchers that are still working and are still committed to excellent science despite the horrors of the war in Ukraine, are urgently needed.

Due to this extremely high response, the evaluation process will take longer than previously foreseen, with the selection results to be announced in Summer 2023, several weeks later than initially expected. Hence, the earliest starting date for a fellowship is expected to be in Fall 2023.

Please kindly note that funding is limited and we regret that the EURIZON Fellowship won´t be able to support a large number of highly deserving research projects.

The EURIZON team is very grateful for the overwhelming response and for the commitment and efforts of the Ukrainian teams and their European partners, and will come up with further information as soon as possible.
